We're ready for more!  Are you?   VERTEX is growing and this critical role has been added to support the overall growth of the VERTEX family of companies, specifically the expansion of value-added resources within our Information Technology Division, Optistar Technology Consultants.  We need a savvy, experienced administrative professional for this hands-on hybrid sales and business administration position. Responsibilities IT – Cybersecurity Internship:  5 open positions!!!   Project-based summer internship to begin immediately through approximately 10 weeks. Over the summer, you will be exposed to real-world cybersecurity practices and their implications, information technology architecture, and project execution while effectively practicing related concepts learned in the classroom.   Over the course of approximately 10 weeks, as an ‘Information Technology Intern’ or ‘Cybersecurity Intern’, you will:   - Work on a team of 4-5 interns under the guidance of an IT expert interacting with our national and international team members - Understand an enterprise-level organization’s information technology architecture including their IT network and cybersecurity infrastructure and capture all living and defunct assets that may include computer equipment, peripherals, network equipment, among others. - Work with Optistar/VERTEX personnel and field technicians to perform a comprehensive equipment/asset sweep of every VERTEX physical office (in person and remotely). - Update inventory master files including specific IT and employee metadata. - Receive returned equipment for comprehensive software/hardware machine review and restocking or sustainable and secure recycling.  - Understand software licensing models for various enterprise and AEC software, including contacting and networking with multiple VERTEX employees to identify and catalogue both authorized and unauthorized software licenses, subscriptions and other ‘one-off’ software purchases or free downloads. - Receive training on various IT, cybersecurity, consulting, and project management practice - Have the opportunity to network with leaders in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Digital Technology, and Forensics fields - Engage with ad-hoc projects and general project support where necessary   Ideal candidates will have:   - Tech-savvy, detail-oriented, reliable, and interested in careers within Information Technology, Cryptocurrency, IT/Forensics or Cybersecurity - Rising Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors, computer science, management, or natural science experience a plus - Rising Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors - Strong interpersonal communication and documentation skills - Problem solvers that think outside the box - GPA at or above 3.0 (desired but not a must) - Helpdesk, call-center, office administration or contact tracing experience (desired but not a must) - Student leadership/extracurricular experience - 10% travel may be required   This is a paid internship and cannot be offered for credit independently but may be combined as part of a summer course (for credit) with approval from a relevant faculty member. Please note that you will be issued a work laptop for the duration of this position.
