    VERTEX is looking to hire a talented, entrepreneurial professional to join our team.  The candidate will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects and working with junior and senior staff, as well as gaining valuable, real-world experience.  More specific details are described below.


    Assistant Estimator

    Core Responsibilities

    • Direct interaction with Estimating team.
    • Attend preconstruction job walks, upload pictures and measurements as needed.
    • Manage the estimating email account.
    • Organize and review subcontractor bids to ensure accurate scope coverage.
    • Enter subcontractor pricing into proposal spreadsheet.
    • Respond to subcontractor questions throughout bid process.
    • Send RFI’s to architect and engineers if scope clarification is required.
    • Perform quantity take-offs and update unit pricing spreadsheet
    • Submit stamped drawings to jurisdictions for construction permit
    • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
    • Effective management of select assignments within the region; meeting budget and delivery timeframes; ensuring client satisfaction.
    • Ensuring that assignments are executed with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
    • Represent VERTEX to clients in a professional manner

    Position Requirements

    • Travel and/or field work in Denver Metro area (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required)
    • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients and subcontractors
    • Able to work with minimal oversight, but take direction effectively from managers
    • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally driven
    • Other project duties as assigned by senior staff



    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred


    • Candidates should be familiar with interpreting plan sets, estimating and take-offs, and as-builts.
    • Requires excellent technology, computer and document management proficiencies. 

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions
    • Proficient in computer operations and standard software packages
    • Effective communicator, verbal and written
    • Efficient, well-organized and positive attitude when approached with challenges and realities of construction management and consulting.
    • Estimating skills are a plus


    • OSHA-10 or -30 certification preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain
    • Carry construction tools and equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity
