    Responsibilities

    The Vertex Companies, Inc. is looking for an Assistant Project Manager in Environmental Remediation to join our team in Denver, CO. The individual we are looking for will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, working with Senior Staff to assess sites across the country, and provide field oversight and management on a variety of projects. More specific details are described below.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct field investigation and remediation activities
    • Collect soil, groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air samples
    • Tabulate and analyze laboratory and engineering data
    • Prepare regulatory and summary reports for Senior review
    • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities
    • Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
    • Conduct Property Condition Assessments
    • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans
    • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
    • Represent VERTEX to the client in a professional manner

    Position Requirements

    • Experience in the management and execution of remediation, hazardous materials and demolition of structures as well as environmental compliance, including:
      • Remedial Design/Remedial Action
      • Soil and waste removals
      • Groundwater treatment
    • Compliance
      • Stormwater/Wastewater (NPDES Programs)
      • Waste Management (state and RCRA Programs)
    • Frequent travel and/or field work (valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required)
    • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors
    • Able to work with minimal oversight and take direction from Senior Staff
    • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally
    • Perform other project duties as assigned by Senior Staff
    • Experience in the execution of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, and remediation
    • Experience in Property Condition Assessments a plus
    • Provide direction and mentoring to junior staff
    • Other project duties as assigned by senior staff

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related environmental field

    Experience

    • Four to Eight years of experience conducting environmental assessment activities and associated permitting, including report writing and executing field programs

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages required (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe)
    • Working knowledge of ArcGIS, AutoCAD, etc. a plus

    Special

    • Position requires Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour)
    • Position requires Health & Safety for Construction training pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (OSHA 10), training provided if necessary
    • E.I.T/PE license or other state remediation certifications, a plus

    Physical Requirements

    • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain
    • Carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity
