    The Vertex Companies, Inc. is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Construction Consulting team. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supervising and or facilitating completion contracts, surety claim investigations, contract claim analysis and reporting, scheduling and cost estimating. In addition, the individual must be proficient in construction and project management with an enthusiastic approach to communicate with opposing parties while delivering client driven results. (More specific details are described below). The Sr. Project Manager provides overall project management for multiple projects or one project depending on the assignment; while providing assistance and support to the Vice President and team staff. The Sr. Project Managers are responsible for delivering outstanding professional services on assigned projects. Client satisfaction is essential.


    Job Responsibilities

    • Effective management of select assignments within the region; meeting budget and delivery timeframes; ensuring client satisfaction.
    • Ensuring that assignments are executed with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
    • Estimate costs and provide projections as required to meet budgetary goals.
    • Meet schedule goals and targets. Create accurate project schedules and analyze existing project schedules for accuracy and conflicts.
    • Solicit, negotiate and manage subcontracts including change orders and pay applications.
    • Manage owner contracts including change orders and pay applications.
    • Investigate and analyze surety performance and payment claims.
    • Analyze the overall health of a given construction project to determine risks associated with schedule, cost, quality and safety.
    • Preparing detailed reports auditing construction projects.
    • Be able to communicate effectively via phone and in writing with all parties involved in selected assignments including clients, project staff, subcontractors and owners.
    • Timely review and processing of client deliverables.
    • Timely submission of time sheets and expenses on a weekly basis.
    • Developing technical specialization and expertise that benefits the company and broadens our service offerings.
    • Participating in business development ventures and presentations, including regular contact with existing and prospective clients in the region.
    • Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy.


    • The ability to work on long term (6 month to 2 years) assignments.
    • Able to demonstrate experience in the management of construction designs, budgets and schedules.
    • Experience in delivery of projects on-time and on-budget.
    • Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with superiors, co-workers, clients and subcontractors.
    • Able to provide oversight and direction to junior staff.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.
    • Travel as necessary and long-term assignments.





    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical, construction-related field (i.e.: architecture, construction management or engineering).




    • A minimum of 10-15 years of construction project management or related experience.
    • Proven track record of project management and communications.
    • Ability to buyout projects, formulates contract agreements, analyze and interpret project cost controls, negotiate change orders, direct subcontractor work and perform risk analysis.

    Knowledge & Skills


    • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required.
    • Advanced degree or certification not required but beneficial.
    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Understanding of CPM scheduling. A basic knowledge of Microsoft Project is preferred and knowledge of Primavera is a plus



    • OSHA10 or 30 certifications preferred.
